Saw this show tonight on Bravo. Tasty tuba playing throughout and what had to be the hottest mic'd lead trumpet I have heard in a long time. Nice playing nonetheless. Catch it, gotta love the Rockette's and those miles and miles of legs!!!!

Kinda reminds me of something I saw on publc television tonight. Christmas concert for a college featuring an up-and-coming vocalist. Very well done, EXCEPT...
On an up-tempo number featuring said vocalist, the lead (screech) trumpeter decides to wail his high note at the end and hang onto it long, long after the song and the real soloist have finished. I have played enough bigband gigs to know most leads like to hang over a little. But, this was just plain tasteless, especially when the focus should have been on the very talented soloist and not feeding the ego of some collegiate tastee bros. wannabe.
