Tuba Player in Florida Named "Janna?"

Post by Steve Marcus »

I was not able to travel with my Dixieland group for a recent engagement in Florida. The members of the group described my sub as a woman named "Janna" who played a large tuba (recording bass?) that was placed in a tuba stand so that she could stand and move around as she played. They said that she played well and was very entertaining in her antics (car horns attached to her tuba stand, etc.).

One of the band members said that Janna also performs as a duo with her piano-playing husband.

Does anyone know who "Janna" is and anything else about her?

Last year when I was in Naples, I was walking around downtown and I remember seeing this woman playing a recording bass with a male keyboardist on the street. I didn't stop and talk to her, but it could be the same person. She matches your description.

Steve, no hardleg dude could possibly have as much to offer visually as a tuba playing hottie who can hoochie coochie while she plays tuba.
This could be the band's way of keeping you in the warm-up pen in case "Janna", their new tuba player needs a night off.
We pronounce it Guf Coast
