I've never played that concerto, but I also have a Miraphone 1291, and think it's a great match for it. Gee, I wonder why?

Just for clarity - you're using the newer Baer MMVI, I assume?

Baer Mouthpiece Observations...concurr?

Post by termite »

Hi tubashaman

I've never tried the Baer but I've been meaning to say for ages since you first mentioned using the P50+ on the 1291 that when I tried out different mouthpieces on my 1291BBb I went in expecting to get a P50 on the strong recomendation of a friend but when we lined up the P48, P48+ and P50 with three people in the room - (two of us taking turns playing and the other just listening) the P50 sounded fuzzy compared to the others and I ended up getting the P48+. The other guy playing owned the P50 and was surprised as he really like it in other BBb tubas.

(Was that nearly all one sentence?)
Did you try the P48 when you got the P50?

Regards

Gerard
