Just gotta say that I love bloke's new avatar--Pong is back!
and TJ's sig line "processing attempt to give a damn-process failed, damn not given". I lack the computer savy for that, but I enjoy both of those!

Blokestock? I'm pretty sure I know what that means but must have missed the naming cycle for the event.

I"d love to go but my lack of ability to imbibe alcoholic beverages would surely put a damper on my ability to be good company during the event. What good is a sober pixie in the midst of drunken behemoths?

I can't say that I know what good a "sober pixie" is in the midst of drunks, but it sure can be fun to watch them. I find myself doing this often when I perform at such functions. In fact, they can be encouraged to make even bigger fools of themselves. It's great sport.

The Elephant named it. Doc has a poll about 'Hangin' with Joe" and eating fried chicken. I think it might have been my idea to ride a bus from the farthest NW Point in the Continental U.S.A. to go to Joe's house, eat chicken, pork and drink Doc's homebrewed beer. I can't remember the reason but who needs a reason?

When Pong first came out, as a young lad, I saw a demo in a local department store. As my mother perused the various departments, I glued myself to the demo. I lost badly. So, I studied very carefully how the game worked, having a natural knack for geometry (angle of incidence equaling the angle of reflection and all that -- which earned me medals at district and regional math relays in high school, but I digress). As with most young children, my reflexes were a lot faster than they are now. I started slow, studied the screen angles, and worked into it. Pretty soon, I was actually at the top speed of the game on the TV, with the knob full clockwise on speed. Then, it stopped. By itself. Not because I missed a pong. I thought it broke. Then, I looked at the bottom of the screen. I had a point. Yes, I actually was able to play that first generation, at about 11 years old, faster than that primitive processor could keep up with the accumulated number of pongs and position the "paddle" at the same time. For one brief, shining moment, I beat the machine.

Then, within a year, processors became better and faster exponentially, and I never tried again, knowing from thence forth they were programmed to be faster than the fastest human reflex.

But I did have my one brief moment of glory on a computer game.
