In regards to the Principal Tuba Position, why such a turn over rate with this position? I think there has been 2 or 3 auditions in the past 7 years.

I have two friends that live in Singapore, and I have learned much about the area from them. For someone from a strictly Western, US background, being over there can be difficult at sometimes, as it's a very strict, more socialist style of living than there is here in the US. Also, Tim Buzbee has moved on to bigger and better things since he left Singapore. I'm not sure what Jacomo is going to be doing now.
It's understandable for someone to go, give it a shot living there, and realize that it's not right for them.

Not that that's a bad thing, but I think that's what ASTuba is talking about. I've heard that many Asian nations are quite conservative in their view of what is appropriate behavior. Again, I don't think it's a bad thing and I certainly don't think that anyone was "bashing" your country.wenbonist wrote:there's a sense of security here that brings to its people a peace of mind.

As far as I heard (first hand) everyone played all excerpts and the V. Williams up to the Cadenza.
The audition took place in a recording studio with a fairly nice sound to play in and was recorded by one of the trombone players in the symphony with a mini-disc player.
Everyone is going to be informed of their status in a couple weeks, I believe by email.
Apparently, a lot of people ended up not showing up.

My name is Brick McMeatloaf and I literally wiped the floor with the competition at the Singapore audition. I was so good I completed the final round in under 10 seconds and I've been recently described in a major publication as a titan among midgets. I am 5'6'' 450lbs. In addition to tuba playing I wake each morning at 6am, drink a power shake, and lift three hundred times my own weight for 25 hours a day and in between I do cardio. I have also modeled extensively in Europe, but don't bother sending for a promotional photo because all the women surrounding me prevent me from ever being seen.
I played the tuba for one month and on the second day I played every piece of music ever written, perfectly.
My name is Brick McMeatloaf, hear me roar!!!!!!!!!
I suspect RoyceLandon is a fake identity.
As far as I know, they haven't sent word out to anyone because they are not done auditioning yet. The last audition is January 24th and they will be sending out notifications to everyone some time after that date.
This is the word on the street from a very reliable source, but then again you never know how they have decided to do it.
Is Royce Ramathorn?

They have given at least one person a trial so far. That person told me that the symphony had a few more trials in June so it will likely be a few months before they name a winner.
