I have to give this testimonial:

I am delivering my last tuba to WakeinAZ on Sunday. It is an excellent example of a YBB-641. I haven't touched the horn, other than to move the case around my storage area and take some quick pictures SINCE MARCH OF 2004. At the time I put it up, I dumped most of a bottle of Hetmans oil in the valve slides after giving the slides a liberal coating of grease. I remember sloshing it around, moving the valves, putting the horn up, locking the case. I just opened it an hour ago. The valves and slides move as smoothly, and as quietly as they did when I was playing.

Buy the stuff. It's amazing. It was the only time I used it. Wow.

Don't forget to throw that bottle in the case, Chuck!

I know everyone gets tired of the Hetman's praise, but it is hard to go wrong with the stuff. I like their rotor products and slide lubes also.

I would if I could find it. I just found a mouthpiece at the bottom of a box. Think I'll hold onto that,though. Everyone needs a paperweight. See you Sunday.

You should know that Hetmans is the cause of global warming. Really. It is. You should carry a tub of whale blubber in your tuba case.

Yeah, on the odd chance I was stranded by rising waters, it woud make a very tasty treat.

Do you eat your whale blubber fresh?
I'm used to eating it after it has been cured in whey and chasing it down with BrennivÃn (a local schnapps, flavoured with caraway seeds) - but JÃ¤germeister sounds like a good idea.

Yes I've used all 3 piston valve oils for my euphs over the years, especially grade 3 for the older models;

I think Willson from Switzerland include a bottle in all instrument cases now.

I use Hetman's #3 on my older horns (1932 Pan American, 1941 Holton Double Bell, and 1968 Conn Connstellation). I use Hetman's grease on the regular slides on my new Prestige, the slide oil on the main tuning slide and linkages (it has the trigger), and Hetman's #1 Valve oil for the valves.

I love the stuff, particularly since as mentioned above it does such a nice job for the horns that have been sitting for a while. The grease is VERY sticky which works particularly well on the 2nd valve slides and 1st valve compensating slides on the 3+1 comp euphs. These have very shoert engagements and often can tend to get loose.
