Been a while - really enjoyed the clips! Haven't been to the NO festival but looks great. Check out and say hi to Matt Perrine, who I'm sure you know is a Scary Tuba Player and great guy. Haven't seen him since he lost his place down there but I think he's back in the area. BTW, the old 186 you fixed up for me ended up with Matt Good to play in quintet. Wish I still had that one, oh well . . .

The Mid-East invasion troops in our country also bring guns to their wedding celebrations. But as houses here are not thatched adobes allowing for free bullet passage, terrible things happened when the joyfully expressive shots ricocheted from the concrete roof.

We did this same gig last year. The Tennessee State and Jackson State sousaphone sections are AWESOME !!!

I've never heard college sousaphone sections play with that much POWER with*out* going horribly sharp and with*out* sounding like a blattfest. Those two bands' sousaphone sections are happening and huge...I think I need to take lessons from those guys...

If they happen to show us at that moment (instead of talking heads behind desks), please burn me a dvd of it!

Here is a very nice action shot of the band that I just-a-minute-ago discovered on the web. It is from (I think...??) last summer when we worked a couple of days at a Crawdad ("Crayfish"...??) Festival at the Indian casinos in Philly, MS.

It was way over 100 degrees on stage (and wearing suits WITH hats... ). We had a fabulous young trombone player on board from New Orleans...sounded like he had been playing with us for years. He'll be famous someday soon (no sarcasm).

The crawdads, beer, and other kept-'em-comin' backstage treats sorta (??) made up for the extreme heat, but (actually) contributed to the heat more than they quenched it.
