Those guys are currently playing CC tubas... sort of in short supply in Germany. Settle for BBb and you'll probably be able to borrow some horns. I did a tour five years ago and even had trouble borrowing an Eb tuba in Germany.iiipopes wrote:Contact Cerveny directly and see if they can help you locate a rental or borrow.

Okay, for those of you who keep asking me why the school isn't paying for this, you obviously didn't read my original post. I said that the school is willing to pay shipping and pay for any damage that may occur during shipping as well as the trip to Austria. So there....
This was simply the solution that our faculty decided on...don't blame me.
So, from now on...I would only like posts or Private Messages from people that are willing to let us borrow/rent a case...PLEASE!
and no...I'm not gonna put something on a credit card especially since I'm currently in the red due to this trip.

Sorry! This post isn't going to meet your criteria. I just need to let you know that I wheel not be able to let you barrow a case.Arkietuba wrote: So, from now on...I would only like posts or Private Messages from people that are willing to let us barrow/rent a case...PLEASE!

Hi,
It will not be easy to rent a CC tuba in Vienna, because Austrians usually play Bb. But you could try.
My suggestion: address Roman Sprinzl. He is a professional tubist, who does repairs as well. He knows the scene over there. Perhaps he will have suggestions about renting in stead of carrying with you your instruments.
Look at: http://roman.sprinzl.info/
E-mail: romi86@gmx.at or call (mobile): Country code Austria - then 676-3182365.
Good luck,
Hubert

Sorry if I come off as being a smart-***...I didn't post on here to get different ideas or have people tell me what they feel I should do. I have no options personally as to what I can do. I'm relying on what the school wants to do.
The school's option is to borrow/rent a case...we aren't renting tubas over there (they considered it but it looks like it's not happening). We've been planning this trip since last semester and I posted on here as soon as I was told that I needed to try it.
The school is willing to shell out some money for this and they don't do this often. And NO...buying some cases isn't an option since we just purchased some not too long ago and we don't take many trips out of the country.

Thanks for the info. I'll talk with my professor and see what he thinks.hubert wrote:Hi,

Uhhh...I know this. My horn is unfinished and has a ton of dents on the bottom bow but it sounds great (Thanks to Sam Gnagey). The school's horns however....aren't so great. I played on one before I got my horn...it's seen better days. It rattles on certain notes and the valves are slow and unresponsive. The other one is currently being used by the other guy going on the trip until his 2145 gets in.tubashaman wrote: Also, WHAT CC tuba models do the school have. Are they playable, or are the valves all frozen and leaks and such. Just because a horn might have alot of dents and look horrible, that doesnt stop it from playing right
