Euphonium Stolen DFW

Post by David Spies »

ESPECIALLY if you are in the D-FW metroplex or in the region of Texas-Oklahoma-Louisiana-Arkansas, if you would keep your eyes open for this instrument in sales, pawn shops, etc.--Brian would greatly appreciate it.

Hirsbrunner circa 1995
silver plate with brass leadpipe
medium (euro) shank receiver
Small deer stamped on the bell
serial #: 094170

Brian Davis is Principal Euphonium with the Dallas Wind Symphony and a great guy. He'd definitely do the same for you (in fact, I think he already has...).

Keep the Karma positive!!! And keep an eye on your axes too...

Brian Davis' Euphonium Found

Proving that there can be happy endings every now and again, my euphonium has been recovered.

A DFW metroplex man (probably the thief) was attempting to sell it in the Houston area and was apprehended by a The Woodlands undercover police officer. He is in custody at this time with bail set at $25,000 bond and is charged with a third degree felony. My family and the police were tipped off by a central Texas low brass teacher who spotted the horn on the Houston Craig's List website on Friday. After seeing the ad he then "googled" Hirsbrunner euphonium to do some research on the horn for sale and came across a post on the Tuba-Euphonium discussion board concerning my stolen horn. The good samaritan was able to verify the serial # from the perp on the phone and then alerted police and myself.

I'd like to thank all who showed concern over this matter and to those who forwarded my initial email concerning the theft far and wide into euphonium cyberspace. It is because of the latter that I'm reunited with my baby once again and now have a second chance at properly insuring it.

So......go and play your horn today.... you never know when you'll get another chance.

Peace and Euphoria,

Brian Davis

That is good new!

So many of these types of stories don't turn out this well.
Miraphone 5050 - Warburton BJ/RF mpc
YEP-641S (recently sold), DE mpc (102 rim; I-cup; I-9 shank)
Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches:
"Always play with a good tone, never louder than lovely, never softer than supported." - author unknown.
