Only if you want to meet online predators and be on TV... :P
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

The only reasons (I needed more than one!) I finally got a Myspace account is because one of my best friends started her own and because one of the guys from my old drum corps started a page. There aren't many connections to my past that I care about.

Myspace

I hate having a MySpace, but it comes in handy for meeting people and keeping intouch with them. its an easy was to let people know about you, kind of like a resume, but not. And if you dont give away any personal info (i.e: phone #, home adress etc.) you wont have to worry about internet stalkers.

There is enough out there already without me putting it out there myself...

I don't know of anyone actually meeting and getting to know someone to the point of friendship solely over Myspace. They advertise that all over, but I have never heard of it.

Having a Myspace page isn't really enjoyable at all if you know few or don't know any people who also have one.

I have both a MySpace and a Facebook page, neither of which I check very often at all. Since I began teaching, I have cranked the privacy settings to the max on both...don't want students stumbling across it and trying to add me.

Then, of course, there are those parts of your past that you would just as soon forget...

A local community orchestra here uses a MySpace page as its web-site. Maybe I'm just being an old fart but finding any useful information about the orchestra on that page is a PITA. You have to plow through all the cutsey-poo messages and pictures that mean nothing to anyone but the poster to find anything useful.

But what do I know . ..

I have both a MySpace and Facebook page. Are they essential? - No, but they can be useful as a means of keeping in touch with friends and making new friends.

I play tuba for John Reno's band. He is the one with the career and c.d. sales are vital. He has his music website at www.johnreno.com/.
He later found it necessary to open a myspace as well to encourage fan feedback and play snippets of his four c.d.'s : http://www.myspace.com/johnrenomusic
A fifth (comedy) c.d. is due out this summer.
These days, a music video is necessary as well as the c.d.'s and websites to promote sales and bookings. John is putting the finishing touches on his video and soon will have it up on myspace and his personal website.
We pronounce it Guf Coast
