Monette 94 Prana tuba mouthpiece Help!

Post by 4snaver »

For those of you who play on a 94 Monette Prana tuba mouthpiece I could use your help. I’m reworking a Helleberg shaped tuba mouthpiece and I’d like to incorporate the 94 Prana measurements to see if I can produce the *constant-pitch-center and *evenness of response throughout the registers with a non-Monette tuba mouthpiece.

If I can get help with these measurements, that would be great!
Here is what I would like to have:

-Actual weight
-The overall length (cup and shank)
-The inside throat size and length (from the base of the cup)
-The length of the backbore (from the throat end to the shank end)
-The ID and OD measurements of the shank end
-The measurement of the shank end (how thick is the metal at the end of the shank)

Thanks!

You might try contacting Kanstul, as they have a bunch of that sort of data in their database for their mouthpieces.

Monette 94 Prana tuba mouthpiece Help!

Post by 4snaver »

I realize that not everyone has access to measuring tools and devices. I myself certainly don’t. What I‘ve been using is a drill bit shank end to measure the throat length and size. If I can at least get the throat size and length, I believe I can finish the modifications on this mouthpiece. Dimensions like the length and the weight would be nice, however I’ve made most of the mods by using photos. I believe I’m very close. The other dimensions would be nice to confirm how close I am. The main thing that concerns me is not to get the throat size too large. Any help with the throat length and size would be greatly appreciated and photos would work also.

Thank you.
