Has anyone tried this tarnish plate on their silver horns?

I was on lots of planes Thursday and Friday of last week, and I noticed this advertised in SkyMall.

Now that I finally own a silver horn for myself I guess you notice these things more!

I've always had good experience with Hagerty's, but I wonder if you give the horn a bath in the tub, would this do some of the work for you?

I've read that silver tarnish can be removed using a piece of aluminum foil in a solution of hot salt water. I could be wrong.

I tried doing this to an eBay PT-copy after it "tarnished", but I put 2 and 2 together and found out that it was just a thin coloring.

line the bottom of a container with aluminum foil.

add a mixture of warm water, salt, and baking soda.

place your silver trinket in the container so that it is in good contact with the aluminum foil.

Wait.

cold tap water will also work, but both the salt and the baking soda speed things up.

sulphur is sucked off the silver. Google will find the details of the chemistry.

I taught this to my wife, and she was RealPleased with the way it polishes small jewelry items (she has a LOT of earrings). I've never tried a bath-tub sized set up for my tuba...but every once in awhile I consider it.
