Josh Calkin appointed to Wayne State College

Congratulations to Josh Calkin, who has been appointed to the position of Professor of Low Brass/Assistant Director of Bands at Wayne State College in Wayne Nebraska.

Josh holds a BS degree in Music Education from Plymouth State College (NH) and a MM degree in Tuba Performance from Boise State University. An active performer and teacher, Josh has been a featured clinician at the Iowa All State Music Camp, the Boise State University All State Festival, the Idaho Tuba-Euphonium Society and several public school music camps and festivals. He also maintains an active performing schedule and has performed with the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band, the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra, the Old Capitol Brass and the Irish Tenors, among others. Josh was recently honored with the 2006-2007 Outstanding Graduate Student Mentor Award at the University of Iowa, where he has done postgraduate work towards a DMA degree in Tuba performance. In his spare time Josh is an avid reader, cyclist and golfer. His primary tuba teachers have included John Manning, Dr. Michael Fischer and Matt Walters and he has studied conducting with Marcellus Brown.

You don't know me, but I recently graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Music and Douglas Whitten was my primary teacher during my undergraduate coursework. If I remember, you two did a joint recital a while back at Boise State right?
