My community band, Chester Symphonic Winds( http://www.vaserver.com/csw/ ), has it's next concert scheduled for Monday, April 21. The theme for this performance is Russian composers.
We will be playing the following :
Procession of the Nobles, Pictures at an Exhibition, March Slav.
This group is made up of mostly high school students from around the county with a few adults in each section. The music is for the most part very diffcult for us but the band director wanted to push us to the extreme. The transcription of " Pictures " we are playing was written specifically for a large wind band and was transcribed from the original piano score. It was not taken from Ravels orchestral version as most arrangements are. We had to cut out several movements due to the difficulty of those movements to allow enought time to work up all the others.
