I don't think so, Joe...I have Ad-Aware 2007 and run it just fine with Windows XP Home.

I would suggest downloading the program again then re-installing a fresh copy. It's a great program that I use about once a month to keep everything running smooth.

I also have 2007 ver of Ad-Aware on my WinXP box. I run it about once per week.

Joe, you should know that the newest version of Ad-Aware has a service (aawservice.exe) that runs all the time... unless you set it to 'manual' thru your control panel. If you disable that service, you'll get an error. This service helps ID potential threats when they're actually getting downloaded. I chose to set it to manual.

Here's a link with more info.

FWIW, I installed it on my XP box (in 2007), so it worked at least at one time...

Hmm. Try uninstalling everything and starting from scratch. I did that and everything downloaded just fine at the office. Are you still on dial up? Sometimes the download can time out and not finish. We got that all the time at the office until we upgraded from dial up to DSL last year. And we were, for the most part, downloading just text for the various business papers.
