Hi tech tuba stand.Notice the marking time by the tbonist at the beginning.This group sounds great.The level of brass quintets in the world continues to soar.I really liked what I heard on the Synergy Brass site too...

which bring a question I've not heard or seen, at least recently...
a couple of questions, actually...

Is there a "Rome Philharmonic"? A "Venice Symphony Orchestra"?

"Naples Philharmonic"? We hear much about the huge opera scene in Italy, but little of the orchestra scene.

And, what has been the traditional tuba in Italy, aside from the cimbasso--but, for that matter, what key of cimbasso is the norm? Does that change per style from a bass to a contrabass also?

Can someone explain to me why that trumpet part was written in "C"and if the trumpet players were playing a c trumpet or a Bb trumpet ?

It's very common for the trumpets in a quintet to play C instruments, and for arrangers to write for the C instruments (particularly when the piece in question is in the key of C Major). Both the players on this video were playing C trumpets...it was obvious from the fingerings used during the closeups.
