Writing my posting on Kerfuffle introduced some involuntary code into my text. Apparently it does no harm, but it looks like dirt.

As usual I copied links from the address lines of relevant pages. When pasting into the text window they looked normal, but as soon, as I hit the Preview button the links got this extension:

" target="_blank

I deleted it in the text window, but it came back every time. Hence I guess it is a matter of the new TN software. Can something be done about it?

Don't just paste the link...surround it with the and [/u r l] tags (without the spaces). That will eliminate the extra text.

I see that option being available, but being bound to use it would be a retrograde step from the ease of use of the old software.

Klaus, it's just one mouse click...click on the URL button and the two tags will appear. All you have to do then is paste the link between them. The cursor is even positioned for you. Hardly worth a concern about being "bound to use it."

Or, after pasting/typing the url, highlight the url and click the button. It'll put the tags at each end of the highlighted text.
That also works for all the other buttons (such as bold, italics, underline )

It did on the previous version to, and most other forum applications (like vBulletin, and SMF)
There is one out there that it doesn't work on, but I don't remember which(pops up a window to enter the URL instead).

Using the correct tag is better than relying on the auto parser, and I've always used it.
The parser mess up some times and doesn't get the fill address. This fixes that put clearly defining the entire url.

The alternate form

is handy. Creates short text that is a link (ex. the quote in my signature is a link to a related article).

Also great for images that are "clickable" links.
Most photo hosting sites will create the code for thumbnail images that are clickable to the full image.

But it's handy for other uses. Like a picture that links to a site selling/describing the item.

People requested links open in new pages/tabs. I found a short hack online to do it and threw it in. Apparently it did not work as cleanly as it should. I'll look into it later.
