But several people do falcone, and i wanted the experience recording this professionally, and If i would have had more money this time and wouldnt have missed the early deadline because the recording engineer wasnt available for the first 2 weeks in march, i would have gotten judges comments
Im goign to be a senior (already am in hours) and dont have any money to transfer to redo classes
I didn't mean to imply you shouldn't do competitions, James...in fact, I would encourage you to do as many as possible. It's always a good experience, no matter how you do in the competition. You are the one who said "Yall havent heard my recordings"...were you looking for some pity?
I'm glad your intonation was better than the files you posted on acidplanet and that it's improving all the time. What you seem to fail to realize is that there are lots of players out there submitting their entries with better intonation than yours. Sorry if you don't like to hear that, but it's the truth. Please don't hide behind phrases like "I didn't hear much tuning stuff." ANY "tuning stuff" is important and needs to be addressed, "geeee" not withstanding.
I was replying to your "I guess you never know" statement, and I stand by my response. Anyone here who has judged a taped round like Falcone will back me up. The recordings with excellent pitch, rhythm, and accuracy rise to the top and are easy to pick out from the rest. Great style and interpretation is often the next divider, if one is needed. Tone is only a factor if it's really poor, although it's the really odd bird that plays in tune, in time, and with accuracy but with poor tone quality.
I'm not trying to pick on you...I was a big fish in a tiny, tiny pond once. I know the uphill battle you are facing, first hand. You want to make the top tier of tuba players? Play in tune, with perfect rhythm and tempo, with near-perfect accuracy, a great sense of style, proper interpretation, and a nice-to-listen-to sound. Don't just settle for being the best tuba player at ACU...nobody will care.
