Conn 14I Four Valve Conversion

Post by Tubaing »

Today I started adding a fourth valve to a Conn 14I euphonium. Prior to today (May 3) I already moved the 1st and 3rd valve slides to the top.

It started like this:

The fouth valve and tubing came from the Eb Sousaphone part shown in the above picture. The bore of the Sousa and the euph happened to be the same.

It is turning out very well but still has a lot more to be done.

It's done being built but I still have to clean it up. Today (May 4) I cut down the tubing of the bugle, added a main tuning slide (from a York 75 Trombone), and added braces.

It plays a lot better than I expected. The tuning isn't bad... it's a little better :D . This was a fun weekend project.

I've concidered it but I use the parts I have that fit. Also, I prefer pistons.
