Concertos

Post by ASTuba »

Hi everyone,

Anyone ever look at or perform these concertos? I'm tired of playing all the standard ones and was looking for something new to enjoy. Thanks!

Contact BVD Press about the Barbara Young concerto, too. I'm not sure what the status of it is, but as with all her other things, GREAT!

Do you mean Barbara YORK, or is there someone else writing tuba stuff?

I am fairly sure the poster meant the York Concerto. It is available on either the BVD or Cimarron Music Press site. There are sounds files on the Cimarron site. Currently there are two versions available:

Tuba and Piano
Tuba and Orchestra

The Tuba and Band version will be coming out for ITEC so stay tuned! It was just performed at Eastman by Alex Reeder and we are awaiting a recording in case we need to make some final adjustments.

Pardon the plug, but soon Cimarron will be posting a new commission project that will include 5 new Tuba Quartets. One each by:

Lewis Buckley
Elizabeth Raum*
James Woodward*
Barbara York*
Tony Zilincik

All will be available at ITEC and * will either be partially or entirely premiered at the show. We have not solidified the prices yet, but they will probably each sell for $20.00 but we will have a special price if people would like to order all 5 at once.... In addition, all 5 composers have agreed to compose 2 duets for Euph. and Tuba and 100% of the sales from that book will be rolled into a future commission.

More details next week we hope!

Wishing all well,

I know about the York concerto all too well. I'm specifically looking at these other works. Thanks.
