Quote clarity

Post by imperialbari »

Elsewhere on this sub-forum I asked for the difference between quotes and new text being made more visually clear. I suggested some sort of frame like with the previous software.

However I just used the quote function in a posting, and the right solution became obvious.

For now the quotes start with a bold quote sign. The transition to the newly posted text only is marked by that text not being indented. Wouldn't it be possible to tweak the software to automatically place a bold end-quote exactly at the end of each quote?

The tweak itself would be simple. Figuring out where in the software to implement that gets much more complicated. If you figure it out, let me know and I can roll the change out.

I have no idea at all, as I can't read or write code myself. I only have a meta undertanding of the principles from working a little together with code writers.

When I have computer problems, which only are related to what is on my own desk, I treat the computers like slowly-learning kids, of which I have some understanding. Voodoo or not: that approach very often leads to productive results.

I am getting some understanding of the boxes right above the window into which I write now. Basically they are about a set of sharp brackets before the text affected leading to a function like bold, image, or whatever and then a set of sharp brackets at the end canceling that effect for further text. I have a strong suspicion, that the quote function works the same way. You might have to place the bold end-quotes right before the bracket canceling the indentation.

If this works it is voodoo.
