CBSO ?

Post by The Deep End »

Does anyone have any latest news on the CBSO vacancy ?
Have they reached a final round of trials yet ?
If so, who is still in the running for that job ?
One last question - does anyone know who is doing their forthcoming tour ( Mahler 5 etc ) ?? ( Ian 1 - any ideas ?? )
Seems to have taken a long time so far, although I know they had given a lot of automatic trials.
Thanks.

Just to update my own posts regarding this job and to quash any rumours, Chris McShane of the BBC Scottish SO has withdrawn from the running a while back. I think the CBSO still intends to sort the job by the end of June. Other news is that they have also now appointed a Principal Trombone - Ed Jones.

I believe that they have been rotating 4 or 5 players in this position for a while - and some very good ones at that. I'm hoping for Mr. McKreel personally - GO ANDREW!! My best to the lovely Dr. as well.

Wow. This guy gets around. Fifteen seasons with the Cowboys as a defensive end (with some boxing in there), then principal tuba with the Fort Worth Symphony, and now principal trombone with the CBSO. Instead of "Too Tall" his nickname should be "Too Talented".

Don't forget that he has also been a financial consultant for some time now...
