Just looking at that auction site, I saw this damaged horn and was wondering if it is a Chinese knockoff POS? Any opinions?

Actually, its the proxy bidding thing at work there. "v***u" placed a bid on May 21, and "a***l" kept bidding on it until he surpassed the other guy's bid from days ago. On the surface, it looks fishy, but I have experienced enough eBay (much to my wife's chagrin) to see that there isn't anything wrong with that.

Yup. I've won several auctions (for less than my max bid) where I've been listed in the bid history several times consecutively.

Ok thanks for the clarification. I haven't bought anything from ebay in about 8 years. I don't remember the proxy bid increments actually showing up before in bidding history. Maybe they did and I just don't remember.

Those repeated "no-bid bids" appear after you've placed a bid with a decent-sized cushion, when someone tries to pass you but falls short - above the disclosed number and below your "ceiling." Your bid automatically increases to beat out the other guy. I saw this horn too, tried with no success to find out about it - but only because a friend is looking for a decent cheap horn for his kid. My ebay days are over for a while.
