Juilliard Tuba Grad Students?
A while ago I think I remember reading a post about no tuba player ever making it into Juilliard for grad school. I can't seem to find the post, but does anyone know if this is true?

You probably remember hearing that it is difficult to get in for anything BEYOND a masters. Post-graduate acceptance is granted on an even playing field against ALL other instruments...piano/violin etc, if i'm not mistaken. Therefore, it's pretty rare for a tuba player to be ranked at the very top of the overall student auditions.
hope that made sense, it's late

Juiiliard Tuba Grad Students?
Hello Listers,
Just to clear this subject, at the moment there are three grad students at Juilliard and one Freshman. It is as one lister mentioned almost impossible on tuba to get into a program for a POST master's degree. I have been asked by many players over the last two months about openings for next year (auditions this spring), As far as I know there will be ONE position open and any player freshman thru grad will have an equal chance at the position.
Thanks for listening,
Sincerely,
David Fedderly
