KING 2280

Post by Davidus1 »

Hi,

I've looked but can't find it.........what are the valves made of on this horn? Are they stainless steel? I've checked the website and don't see it. The things that I've read about this are fairly positive. People seem to think a lot of the horn. Any comments about it would be greatly appreciated. Dave

Someone mentioned to me that if they were stainless that the company would make that known as it is a desirable feature......soooooo......they more than likely are not stainless but "I gots to know".....

The fellow sitting next to me at a 4th of July concert tonight was playing one. I asked Gene to let me have a look at one of the pistons. It was not monel for certain and looked like a conventional brass piston with nickel plating to me.

King pistons are nickel plated nickel-silver.

You're right of course - we should've clarified.

They used to have (or some of the Cleveland Musical Instrument company stuff) Bronze valves.

I have a 2280. I'm not in love with the intonation. Maybe I haven't found the right mouthpiece for it.
