Wow, small world! I'll be starting my fifth year at SNU this fall, and went to Bethany for middle/high school.

There is no longer any band stuff at the 4th of July deal. They decided it was much wiser to invest money in bringing in some washed up old country singer. BUT, Phil Moore does direct MY band at SNU, as well as other brass groups. Though, I'm more accustomed to calling him Dr. Moore.

You have a gorgeous horn and I know it sounds great! That is a HUGE piece of silverware you have there--make sure you wipe it down after you play it--every time you touch it, actually. Silverplate looks great and stands out but its high maintenance compared to lacquered horns--keep it as clean as possible and you won't have to polish it often.

I've had a few days to play this beast now, and here are some impressions thus far:

The low range is AMAZING. Even at loud volumes, it still has a certain richness and fullness to the sound and doesn't break up. The mid range is really comfortable, with very little effort put into a good tone. The high range is very impressive. For me, my high range has always felt/sounded rather pinched and not very nice, but on this horn, it's very rich and full. Over all, the tone is beautiful. I was also impressed with just how easy it is to play softly and "delicately" on this horn. I assumed that I would have some difficulty with this, since this horn is labeled a 5/4. However, it's much easier to handle than even the 4/4 PT1 I've been playing on.

I feel that I sound much more "professional" now (if that makes sense). Perhaps it is the horn, perhaps it's just me. I honestly don't care.
