Miraphone 188 at BBC
I noticed BBC had a used Miraphone 188 for sale. Has anyone had opportunity to play it? How did it play?

Re: Miraphone 188 at BBC
I tried it out a few months ago. I thought it played very well, and nearly identical to *most* 188's I've played. They seem to be very consistent tubas.tubadaddy92 wrote:I noticed BBC had a used Miraphone 188 for sale. Has anyone had opportunity to play it? How did it play?
Also, give Dave Fedderly a call -- he's a great person and will tell it to you like it is. It's been "on hold" for a long time, so I'm not sure what that means...
Good luck!

PS I say *most* because there was a Miraphone 188 I played on a few years ago that was one of the best tubas I've ever played. One of the best tubas I've ever played.

when BBC has stuff "On Hold", that means it's either out on approval or someone has a deposit on it.

Re: Miraphone 188 at BBC
i contacted them and they it wasnt on hold (but it is now cause its sitting right here next to me
) but they didnt know how old it was and i wondered if anyone on here knew. the number is 14574. the horn plays great and has a rocking low range and an awosome high range. another thing that gets me is that the model isnt listed under the miraFone sign. thanks for all the help.

Miraphone has been very helpful with providing this information in the past - try them at info@miraphone.de" target="_blanktubadaddy92 wrote:i contacted them and they it wasnt on hold (but it is now cause its sitting right here next to me) but they didnt know how old it was and i wondered if anyone on here knew. the number is 14574. the horn plays great and has a rocking low range and an awosome high range. another thing that gets me is that the model isnt listed under the miraFone sign. thanks for all the help.

Re: Miraphone 188 at BBC
I have played the 186 in BBb and CC and the 187. I've only sat next to someone playing a 188. If you want info on the 187 search "187" under my user name. I've posted several observations about this horn. I used to own a 187 BBb and also a 186 in CC.

If I recall correctly, my 1985 188 had a serial number of 13051. Guess that would put the one at BBC not long after mine. Good vintage for 188s...tubadaddy92 wrote:i contacted them and they it wasnt on hold (but it is now cause its sitting right here next to me) but they didnt know how old it was and i wondered if anyone on here knew. the number is 14574. the horn plays great and has a rocking low range and an awosome high range. another thing that gets me is that the model isnt listed under the miraFone sign. thanks for all the help.
