Wow! An eight ounce bottle is pretty big bottle to lug around! Being a contact lens wearer, I have an ample supply of squirt bottles. Bausch & Lomb packages some of their solutions in 2 ounce bottles that fit into a small gig pouch nicely. Lots of cosmetics come in travel sizes. Some of those type bottles are usually available for sale empty at Wal-Marts and the like.Greg wrote:..... I have been using empty Blue Juice(8oz) bottles to carry it with me. However, these bottles have seen their better day and are starting to leak. What do you use to carry your valve oil? Where do you get these containers?

Used eyedrop and nasal spray bottles for me. And whoever it was who recommended that Ultrapure lamp oil --- I salute you! It's working great, and doesn't give off much odor at all. Not too horribly pricey either. By the way, I still have 2 bottle of Blue Juice -- free to good home.

Save the bottles for the Ultrapure.

Re: Making your own valve oil?
I only tried this with a spray bottle once, and actually, I found that the lamp oil was too volatile and evaporated rather quickly. I think this is the quickest easiest way to get coverage on the valve, even if you do end up wasting a little in the process.I recently started wearing glasses and they gave me a couple of small pump spray bottles of eye cleaner. When I finally use one up I was thinking of trying it with valve oil. Has anyone tried this with good results or is even utlrapure lamp oil too thick to spray?

Work OK for me. I use those sold as trombone slide sprayers, and I buy the cheap 16 fl. oz. bottles of house brand stuff from places like Musicians Friend, WWBW, etc.small pump spray bottles
