I thought it was slide grease, not a glue stick!

The CC fingerings just snuck in there.
Well, I played the note with my chops, but I forgot to put the valves down. (works fine on a french horn.)
My tuba was in the car all day (at 110 degrees) and I can't get the slide out far enough to get it down to pitch. Besides that, I burned myself.

You guys who might come to ITEA in Tucson next time: don't laff at the 110 degrees and tuba in the car....could happen. We put fuzzy wraps on our steering wheels in the summer, not the winter.

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Re: full blown excses take 2
The conductor of my Youth Orchestra told us this story:
In one of the many ensembles he conducts, he noticed in a rehearsal once upon a time that the first oboe player was having a bit of trouble. He could play his part fine, but whenever the ensemble would start at a certain rehearsal number or measure number, the oboe player seemed lost for a bar or two, then figured it out and started playing, sounding great. This went on for the entire rehearsal.
Afterwards, the conductor approached him and asked what the trouble was. He said this:
"Well, I forgot my music, so I had to play it from memory. The only problem was, I don't have the rehearsal numbers memorized!"
