Trying to Remember a Title
There is a composition for concert band entitled "3 19th Century Versions of the Stars Spangled Banner," or some such. It has a lot of business for all sections at different times throughout. Can anyone tell me what composition I am thinking of and who wrote it? It's been driving me mad for months, now (not a long drive - a short putt). Thanks for any insights.

Could possibly be Dudley Buck's "Festival Overture on the American National Air(The Star Spangled Banner)". It is quite a fun piece to play with a pretty good tuba part. I think it doesn't get played much now that the SSB is the National Anthem. I have it on a program in 2009. Great fun if you can get the audience to sing the SSB at the end.

NO, that's not it, because I distinctly remember there being 3 versions of SSB. Each a different setting and feeling (the third one had a lot of 16th note runs for tuba/t-bone/euph. The one you mention sounds interesting. I think I'll look it up!! Thank you.
