If you had to pick a concerto to play with either orchestra or band/wind ensemble, what piece would it be? If you could give a reason why, that would be great.
My chioce would be the James Woodward Concerto. I thoroughly enjoy not only listening to this piece, but playing it.
Thanks for all of your input.

Bozza Concertino...still my favorite after all these years.
Oh, and I play it on a C tuba...sacrilege, I'm sure.

Either Gregson or Woodward. I just love how the Woodward sounds.

I will be performing the Gregson with my Wind Symphony this year. I will try and make a recording available when I can!

I have been luck enough to have performed both the Vaughan Williams and Gregson with orchestras.
The one I would really like to play now is the Eugene Anderson. Been smitten with it since I first heard recording.

Re: your chioce of concerto
Greetings all,
Actually, I am going to get to fulfill one of my "concerto dreams" soon. I am playing the finale of the Pershing Concerto by Elizabeth Raum with the Miami University wind ensemble in December. Don't worry, I'll post more information as we get closer to the date.

I wouldn't mind a crack at the Ewazen with a group sometime!
