Ah damn, I should have realized.

So lets go with both recordings. Who played on the earlier and the later?

Chuck beat me to it...those were the players in the NPO at the times of those recordings.

It should be noted that the second recording is about twice as long in duration as the first. Makes for some interesting comparisons if you can get both of them.

I was actually looking for the recording that Joe Novotny made. Thanks guys.

The 1993 recording that is referenced above, is that a re-release of a previous recording?

As I said, the 1993 recording is twice as long as the 1964 one. It's not a re-release as far as I'm aware, and certainly not a re-release of the 1964 recording. Those are the only two listed for the NPO with Tchaik 6.

The last recording Bernstein made of Tchaik. 6 was in 198, considering Leonard Bernstein died in 1990. It was Warren Deck playing tuba on that. I'm not a fan of this recording for the reason stated above. RIDICULOUS tempos. Same with alot of late Bernstein recordings. As an example his first Mahler cycle with CBS is far better than his later one for DG. I'm not sure what his issue was with the bloated tempos, but they are pretty damn distracting.
