I figured this would be the best place to ask.
I teach middle school band in a wealthy area just south of Nashville. One of my students that used to live in CA said she lived next door to the tuba player that played in Close Encounters. Of course I was very shocked, but of course she didn't remember the name of the guy. Of course I threw out Self and Johnson...she had no idea. She did say he had a tuba on top of his house...is this true? Any thoughts?

"Hollywood Tubist" is a fitting title as Jim literally lives in the Hollywood Hills. Once, while visiting him, I stopped at a gas station less than a mile from his home and stood in line behind rocker Tommy Lee (this was post-Pam Anderson).
