I would think the best way to do this is compile a list of all the school's you're interested in going and then email or call the professor there and find out. My guess is that will be the most accurate way to do it.

Hey guys... maybe he should do the legwork, but I am glad he asked here. I will contact him about my available positions. Chances are the dialogue would have never begun had he not asked here. If its okay for us professors to announce vacancies here, it seems just as appropriate for students be able to ask the larger audience as well.

Oh, it's definitely good that he listed here because it does open up opportunities. But of course, the best way to find out of these vacancies is to do the work. Though, you can get some good dialog from professionals.Gorilla Tuba wrote:Hey guys... maybe he should do the legwork, but I am glad he asked here. I will contact him about my available positions. Re: How to find schools looking for a tuba T.A.?
In my case I have a 1/2 time TA position with 1/4 of it assigned to the band director. With him I assist him in the basic conducting class and am in charge of instrument/locker check-out. The other 1/4 time I am assigned to the music education and am teaching "Elementary Music Methods" for the non-music major. In both instances I am getting some teaching time as well as some administrative stuff that I would need to know how to do when I get back into the classroom either at the HS or the collegiate level. I do this while I am taking my own classes working on my MM degree.Bob1062 wrote:What exactly is a teaching assistant and what do they do?
