Re: Flight Case
Go with the light weight Alan Baer design if you have the option. Even with the Willson you might beat the 70lb weight restriction with it (I say "might" as these horns are a bit hefty).
Just my $0.02 for what it's worth.

Re: Flight Case
MW has very good cases, if you don't mind the weight.
And of course if you can find a case with the right dimensions.

Re: Flight Case
I would also recommend Unitec. I have a ATA Flight case from them. I only had one problem with a broken wheel (thanks to O'Hare baggage handlers!), and Unitec was nice enough to repair this free of charge.

Do tell more. I have never heard of this case before. Anyone got a link to one?Roger Lewis wrote:Go with the light weight Alan Baer design if you have the option. Even with the Willson you might beat the 70lb weight restriction with it (I say "might" as these horns are a bit hefty).

Re: Flight Case
The lightweight Alan Baer design unitec flight case is an excellent case with a very well thought out design. It is made of a lightweight carbon fiber material that will stand up well to abuse, has very strong hardware and wheels and can be made with ATA latches with locks.
The weight of the case is dependent on the horn going in it, but a 5/4 Rudy that I know of came in at 72 pounds with the horn in it. That is going to be a pretty big case. It is a trapezoid shaped case with wheels on the bell end and another on the "bow" end so that you can pull it through an airportwithout having to pick the end of the case up. There is also an extra set of wheels that snap into latches on the bell end that are steerable and allow your to stand the case up on the bell and wheel it through an airport. Extra handles have been added so that you can hang your luggage on it and this way the only time you have to carry the whole weight of anything is loading it or unloading it from your car.
My hat is off to Alan for his great insight in the development of this case. I have one of these coming in shortly and will post photos once it is here.
