Have you ever used the Ipod recorder?

Post by jdicesar »

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried using the Ipod recording accessory for recording playing.

I am looking for a good digital recorder, and the Ipod one is affordable. It would also be very convenient seeing as how I can just plug my ipod into anything.

Here is a link:

Let me know if you have any experience with this as a recording tool for Tuba playing.

Thanks,
John

I have this exact thing. It replaced my mini-disc recorder due to its ease of use (though the quality is a little below that of mini-disc). I used it to listen to my practice until I got my edirol in May. It is very handy, and I liked how it was immediately available on your ipod. The mic it comes with works better than expected, but then I wasn't expecting much to begin with. If you can't spend the money on an edirol or a zoom, then this can be considered a cheap alternative. You can also plug an external mic into it, but I never had luck figuring that feature out. But then again, I got lazy with it, and gave up rather quickly with the external mic, simply because I didn't want to bother doing it every time.

Summary: For its price (if you already have the ipod), its a good tool for practice play-back. If you want something to record performances, spend the extra dough for an edirol or zoom.

My brother has the Belkin TuneTalk. He has plugged a mini stereo patch cord into it from the mixer when our band (17 pcs jazz band) has played gigs. It does a pretty good job.

A trumpet playing buddy of mine used this tool. It's really great, especially for how easy it is. It has a pretty decent recording sound as well.

Cheers!

Recording stuff on the iPod?

I haven't used one of the ones that plug into the bottom of the iPod. I've ended up using a mic that has a 2.5 mm jack, and pluged it in while having Rockbox installed on my iPod  ...but then again, I'm a bit of a iPod hacker, too  .
I think I might end up as a grumpy old man when I get old...

the ipod recorder is very easy to use, but the quality is not that good.
If you are looking for good quality, I think you should try the Zoom H-4 recorder.
