And a fine day it is. Happy Tubaing.
Shouldn't there be a certain hour where every tubist in the world has a honk in unison? Say, a low Bb played worldwide at 6pm (Greenwich) for 5 seconds.
Way back in the 1980s (or early 1990s) there was a "World-Wide Eb Event" that I took part in (some scientists determined that the Earth "sang a massive Eb note") - musicians of all stripes supposedly played Eb sounds for 24 hours, one hour in each time zone. There were about 20 of us set up in a plaza in San Jose, CA at Noon and I brought my Eb Sousaphone to join in. We made a lot of Eb noise for an hour and then went away. This was so far before "The Internets" and I have no idea what actually happened anywhere else in the world, but we did it.
Every once in a while I search the Net for "Eb World" but nothing significant has turned up...
This just in!

...the piece emits a rumbling hum. It's a live feed from a 14-foot tube that Odland has mounted over Boston Avenue at the intersection with College Avenue, transmitted from a cluster of speakers hanging under the dome. The tube gathers all the sounds from that busy corner and tunes them to E.
"Well, really it hovers between E and E-flat," notes Odland. "On cold days, it's closer to E-flat. Several composers believe that the key of the earth is E-flat. I agree with Mahler and Brahms on that."

Re: Happy International Tuba Day!
well, Dave...the latest is that the Universe puts out a Bb. Maybe the Eb Day was--literally--a cosmic event of great impact??
