*edit* 40-50 pounds of turkey will be made on Thanksgiving Day. Lots of sandwiches and stew on Friday

Now that is doing the Lord's work. Actions DO speak louder than words, something some have forgotten around here and most of the world. I don't know you, but I like you for giving of yourself to an age group that is largely forgotten. You getting this Dylan?JPNirschl wrote: host about 45-60 disadvantaged Seniors at an assisted living home near me.
I supervise the menu (I actually am a decent cook) and start around 0600, Dinner is served at 1430, and the staff usually gets treated to my Dixieland Band after this, and they get to go to bed early, at around 1900 or so, because they are too pooped to go on. They usually contact us within a week after to book the next year.
Most of these seniors are disabled veterans. We do this at the Veteran's Home at King, WI. It makes my day very enjoyable, despite the work.
But these people deserve it. And I'm proud to do it, as a Navy man myself.

What memories - I used to go to the Jim's at I-35 & Ben White when I rode with the Highway Patrol. Coffee & tea were free & meals were half price.knuxie wrote:Not to worry, Wade. One year me and the wife went to Jim's and was glad they didn't run out of the sliced turkey...

I am overly blessed to get plenty of this and that, but who are you (Chuck Jackson) to know what and how much I give? Be careful about removing specs from eyes you can't see.Chuck Jackson wrote:Now that is doing the Lord's work. Yes! I agree with Ken. I was only responding to what appeared to me to be a cheap-shot by Mr. Jackson at the beginning of this thread. I will not be offended if these posts are removed fairly by those in command of the tubenet watch group. When challenged directly in regard to my character, I felt obliged to respond. -DKknuxie wrote:As the OP, may I ask the moderators to please zap the religion posts rather than kill this entire thread.
Guys, you know that religious or political discussion is taboo here. NOTHING GETS ANSWERED OR SOLVED!! Save your useless discussion for the coffeeshop or street corner.
