My quartet at UNI did a recording and video for Dethklok's Thunderhorse from the show Metalocalypse. It's pretty awesome. If you have a YouTube account, we encourage you to leave us METAL comments!

The head-banging is not of my liking, but the music is!

The playing is good, and the ensemble lured me into thinking it was bigger. The euphs often are close to horns, which is a good thing in my vocabulary (much better than being pseudo trombones).

1992 through 1996 I was close to the metal scene, as I helped former school students mostly as layout man on a zine and manager of concerts, but also in some cases told them, when their playing could be improved by general musical standards.

I must say that I like this unlikely brass music way better, than when tuba quartets play fake jazz.

METAL!

Emperor is a bit much.... "let's play as fast as we can."

Which is cool... but... yeah.

Don't get me started on metal. I know it all!

Haha, we generally play heavier and newer stuff than that, though we are doing some Metallica and eventually Black Sabbath. But we are also doing or going to do Mastodon, Between the Buried & Me, etc.

Oddly enough, you're far from the first to ask. A few people have sent us requests on YouTube as well. I have to clear it with Joe (he's the main character in the trenchcoat) who did this particular arrangement. I imagine he'll end up putting a price on the arrangement and people can purchase it from him. It was a lot of work, after all. It would then amount to sending a check, or using PayPal or something, and he can email you the pdfs of the score and parts.

Anyone who wants info on the arrangement can PM me on here or send us a message on YouTube and we'll get back to you.

Just as a side note, anyone who liked this video should mark down in their calendars that N.A.M.E., the quartet featured in this video, will be giving a recital/show on February 10th, at the University of Northern Iowa Performing Arts Center. It should be a blast!

Shoot, I was there filming it and I didn't even get it... I think he's like some sort of super brain powered magi... tuba magi.
