My wife and I don't observe each other's birthday beyond remembering to say "happy birthday" to each other on that special day.
Lord help he or she who forgets to do that.
We get what we need throughout the year as needed and we save up for our son's and especially our grandson's birthday.
No way the New Orleans Saints can lose today. They got a bye this week.
Today is Sunday and I have the whole day to do any darn thing I please.
I see in my near future, a motorcycle ride down to the Bon Secour River.
After that I will go by and nag the boatyard guy to hurry up with my boat.
I plan to grab a flat top guitar and pick up my boatbuilder buddy and head to his place on Fish River for BBQ, pickin' and grinnin'.

(pause) And eat some barbeque."

Update:

In league tonight, I bowled my first ever 200 game, a 205, in the second game. 'Twas a good night...

Despite those nachos???
Perhaps because of. I'd never had the nachos before. I'd never bowled a 200 before. That can't possibly be a coincidence...

The New Orleans Saints came back from their bye week all rested and refreshed and lost again.
I recieved a disbursement from C.D. sales and plan to use it to fix a busted waterkey on my tuba so I won't have to pull the main slide out to dump it. 8)

Update:

the wifey's class's chickens are doing great! Only one is kind of odd or disturbed (pulls her own feathers). The kids (third grade) love them (and do all the taking care of them during the week).

and the weather here in Northern Central CA is beautiful this past week.....'cept for the leaves.

Ha bloke, good one.

sounds a lot like No child Left behind. You know that by 2014 every student in the country will be proficient in math and reading. We are all equal, some are just more equal than others....

also think about it, half the world is below average.... butnot anymore. We are all average. No more bell curve...

knuxie wrote:In the district both me and my wife teach in, grading is and has been done on the 100 point scale. Here, however, is a new twist this year:

As of September 1, there are no grades below 50. If a child scores a 49 or a zero, the grade gets readjusted to a 50. Seems some teachers and parents didn't think it was fair that a child could score a zero and a 100 and still average an F. This new way gives students, in school administrators' opinions, more hope to pass their classes.

Doesn't this work the same way in the 4-point system (the one I was graded on when I went to school), and also that most colleges have been grading on for decades?

Ken F.
I'm sorry to say this is not a new concept. I have had this imposed on me for several years in my former life. You have described its justification very well. I find this to be yet another injustice disguised as something positive(which I don't believe it is). As one might expect, there are students who will exploit this loophole.

Schmidt's Music repair shop in Pensacola rebuilt my water key with all new guts for cheap. Replacing a missing bell screw with a new one was $15.

Similar thinking must have gone into the Prairie Home Companion premise.

This thread has reached 1000 posts in only 7 months. In contrast, it took the "Friday's Funny" thread 19 months to reach the 1000 post mark. I think that may make this the fastest growing thread in TubeNet history...

Update:

That was just a joke. If there had been a real emergency, we'd use the regular TubeNet system that the elephant can't see. No need to be alarmed.
