I am not trying to offend anyone here, but I ran out of Kosher salt last night while cooking. I substituted sea salt. I know this goes against conventional TubeNet wisdom, but I could NOT tell the difference. That is just me and YMMV. But that is my personal experience. Please do not flame me. I am certain that we can all come to an agreement to disagree, all those who prefer Kosher over sea salt and vice-versa. I am sure that many here would agree with me that the difference is probably only really noticeable when the salt is sampled alone and not so obvious when cooked into foods. My mother actually thought I had used plain, old table salt, if you can imagine the scandal of that! How pedestrian!
You know, I…
Oh, this is not the actual Stodgy Thread. Is it? This was merely a reference to the Stodgy Thread.
My shame knows no bounds on this, people. I am sorry for the waste of bandwidth. Please, please forgive my transgression.
TubeNet, where expressing strong aversion to a political system gets you called a racist...
Hey elephant -- far from a waste of bandwidth. The satire in setting forth your anecdote illustrating the true nature of the thread was most refreshing -- especially if taken with a grain of salt!

IMO. kinder and gentler is just an excuse. Some folks ought to just be less critical of other's opinions, less frictional about ideas, and less pessimistic about new concepts that they never realized. Hell, a true professional can't even get that status here without doing quadruple back-handstands and fourty lashes with treadle whips.

Aw, Jim, that's alright. Look at it more of keeping the BS factor in check.
Remember: how do you make a sword so it will stay sharp? Heat it to the point of almost melting and beat the hell out of it to temper it. We all kind of do that to each other here, and we all eventually do benefit from it. I've been cured of a lot of BS myself being on the forum. Painful at times, as misconceptions and prejudices are torn through and discarded, but better in the end.
