Greetings, all!
After 23 years of dormancy, I have returned to playing sousaphone. Four months ago I bought a Conn 22K through eBay and joined Tubenet. I've been practicing semi-regularly and reading Tubenet sporadically since then.
"Back in the day", before that 23 year hiatus, I played for 13 years from 5th grade to 'super senior' (5th year college). In that time I played in marching band, concert band, pep band, jazz band, stage band, brass choir, and two trips to district band. Typical stuff, really. By the end of that I would have considered myself a strong (as in loud) player but of only average technical ability.
Now that I'm older I worry less about sheer volume and more about the quality of the sound, the technical details of the horn, and practicing regularly. I expect that most of my playing will be in church or civic organizations.
The list of questions I have is growing but I thought I'd better say 'hi' first.
Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Perry
