Loose Tuning slide-HELP!
The main tuning slide on my recently purchased Besson 983 keeps falling out. Does anyone have any suggestions to make it stay in place, both long term and quick fixes will be appreciated.

Maybe you lube is not thick enough for the slide and gravity is making it fall out?
A quick fix could just be some string or other wire that can be easily tied to let the main tuning slide brace hang from some tubing above it (if that description makes any sense).

Yup. Slide is short, and if the pitch is low you're way out. There was a shortish piece of old ribbon close at hand several years ago when I had an incident, so I tied it to the slide brace and to the pipe above. It's still on.
Another one that has popped out is the 2nd valve slide - rather often, in fact. Of course, that's where a lot of condensation winds up (ah, Besson!), so I'm always pulling it to empty the juice; what's been bad is that it's popped out when I'm playing the fullest, really putting air through the horn. All of a sudden -
'ppfffooooh.'
So last time I saw Tubatinker he flared the pipe a smidgeon. And, so far so good. Should work on the main tuning slide as well, at least as well as a ribbon or a twistie.

I have the same problem and Hetman USG helped. It's a b**** to put on but it works. (Use one of the cheap plastic brushes to apply it to the slides you want and keep it in a little ziplock bag or just throw it out). It's about the consistency of that marshmallow goop.

Take it to a repairman and get it fixed. It's trivial.
