Re: What tuba is this
Ok, I'll bite...
The player in the video doesn't look like either of the players you showed. He's much younger than Armando Santiago, and doesn't look much like Roberto Garamendi. This was recorded on 2/27/2004, and you gave the current orchestra's tuba players. Who do you suppose was playing with the orchestra in 2004? Or was this a sub?

Re: What tuba is this
Was the whole point of this thread to "prove" that the 186 can be used effectively for Prokofiev 5?
Duh...

I can easily read the engraving on the bell, it says "Huttl," that ends the guessing.the elephant wrote:

Re: What tuba is this
I just had a thought. And those who know me can vouch for how rare this is. Why not have a Christmas carol using the title of this thread? Possible start to the lyrics:
What tuba is this
Which laid to rest
OK. I'm leaving now.
What tuba is this
Which laid to rest
OK. I'm leaving now.

Haste, Haste we need to know
if it's rotary, piston or hagmann valves.
Haste, haste we must know now
Can we get it in silver pla-ting.

Oh, the elephant has some gas now
'Cause of lyrics we made up, wow!
But since he's nowhere to go...
Let him blow, let him blow, let him blow!

Rudolph the too-fast conductor,
has a very ti-ny brain,
and if you ever played for him,
you would have such great distain...
Then one foggy solo line,
the viola began to play.
Rudolph considered it his right.
and moved like in a big knife fight!
Then all the players snubbed him,
treated him like debris,
"Rudolph the too-fast conductor,
your beat is still a mystery!"
