Mouthpiece Question for B&S PT-10 Players.....

Mouthpiece Question for B&S PT-10 Players.....
Hey....
Just wondering what mouthpiece choice any of you PT-10 players (past and present), have made that helps control the intonation tendencies of the horn. I've played the horn w/a Perantucci PT-64, but it makes the horn considerably sharp in the middle-low/low range. I tried using a mouthpiece as big as a PT-36 (the old PT-1), but it makes the upper range a little too flat.
As anybody who has played the PT-10 knows, the horn can be easily manipulated 4-5 Hz either way by just changing the shape of your mouth. I need to find something comfortable that will not require a lot of fishing slide or mouth wise......
I found a Rudolf-Meinl Tilz model that I'm deferring to right now....but it still makes the upper range a tad too flat.

Hello Allen,
I am having terrific luck with the Dillon M1CB. I know it's big, but I'm preparing to play Pictures in March and the G# is more secure here than with any other mouthpiece I have. Works great in quintet as well.
I also use the Pat Sheridan S1 for solos and was using the Wick 1L in quintet before the M1C. I have a MF4 that I like pretty well and is great for extended upper register playing (cello suites).

What is the rim of the Dillon like? soft like a miraphone or sharp like a helleberg, or somewhere in between?
Right this second, i am trying a B&S 24 AW. It has a nice soft rim, and I am sure it is just like the Bach, but I don't have one handy to compare. I just left the Laskey 30C (european shank) but only because it has a little too sharp an edge. Would be interested to try some of these mouthpieces mentioned.

I think Mark Nelson with his B&S F uses a Laskey 30C, a fairly recent change. He used something else for decades.erictuba wrote:i use a helleberg 7b (the small one). Thanks for the feed back....I tried a PT-65 today, but not for very long. I guess the difference in size between the 64 & 65 are not different enough to affect my playing on the horn....it is a older model from the '80's, so I dunno.....
I'd like to try the Helleberg 7C out sometime, and I do enjoy using this Bruno Tilz mouthpiece right now....I think this might be the ticket....it feels very similar to the Perantucci line (I've been a faithful user of a PT-50 for the past 13 years--I just switched to a PT-50+ on my CC and I love it!), but just a tad bigger--enough to positively affect my intonation.
I'll let you know how the John Williams' Concerto goes in December using the mouthpiece....December 2nd, BTW....hehehehe (shameless plug)
