Has anyone had low register problems on Parantucci PT-15?

Hi. My name is Billy Rueckert. I rcently went to a convention to look at new F tubas. I tested a Parantucci PT-15 rotary and was pretty pleased with it with one exeption. The low 'C' right below the staff seemed almost non existant, Has anyone else encountered this problem, or any others for that matter. I want to make sure I make a good invesment.

Also, any opinions about the wooden cases that come with the horn?

There are ad infinitum threads and posts on Tubenet regarding the commonality of stuffy low Cs on German F tubas. I suspect this particular specimen is in the general range of low C response on F tubas in general.

I consider the low range on my PT-15 to be very workable. I think it's easy to get caught in the trap of looking at one aspect of an instrument (like the low c on an F tuba), and ignoring the rest of its fantastic qualities such as sound color and a singing high range. Every instrument is going to represent a compromise to some degree or another. I've included a link to a short mp3 of me doing part of the VW cadenza on my PT-15. That's the reason I play Eb

I played a 'Norweigan Star' Eb over the summer and was very disappointed. Low BBb was as difficult to center and sounded about as good as the low CC on a typical german style F tuba. It just seemed that it was kind of like someone added an extra foot or so of tubing on a rotary F and 'presto', a brand new (Eb) tuba was born.

Talk about reinventing the wheel!

The rest of the horn played well, but I can't understand why anyone who had an Eb tuba (with no problem notes) would buy this one...

That note takes some practice. It separates those who do from those who don't. I have a Pt-15 also and love mine.

Mine didn't come with a case though. I bought a gig bag for day to day and a Johnson hard case for the few times I need more protection.
