Solo playing ! Need an answer quick
When performing a solo , that has a piano Accomp., without the piano, is it best to count the rests and perform as if the piano were there say on a recording for studio class?

No, you don't have to count out the measures on a recording for that scenerio. I'd say anything over 4+ bars you can skip ahead. I always keep my relative time though. Meaning, if someone was keeping time and my next entrance was after a 10 bar rest on the & of 3, I'd come in on the & of 3. If that makes sense.

You stop tapping your foot, and lean over and pretend to make silly jokes with the bass trombone player.tubahead wrote:What is a "pause with conviction"? or just learn an unaccompanied solo 2 days before your junior recital like I had to because my Pianist boned out on me saying that the piano part for the hindemith was unplayable. Unaccompanied parts are easier too because you don't have to worry about the accompanying musicians mistakes HAHAHAHA
