Good deal available!

Post by Matt G »

I was down at my local Guitar Center looking to pick up a new 25' cable for my bass. By the checkout I saw this little gem:

Image

The Brand is "Planet Waves" (I think a brand of D'Addario) and the product names is "Multi-Function Tuner".It is a tuner that has a "sweep" or "strobe" function. It can be feed through (1/4" I/O jacks) or it has a clip-on piezoelectric unit to tune off the headstock, soundhole, or bridge (for upright bass) or it has a built-in microphone if you want to just leave it on a stand. Both tuning functions work well, but I prefer the "strobe" setting. Additionally it is fully chromatic, and with the clip-on piezoelectric pick-up you might even be able to use it on a tuba.

Why is it a deal? Guitar Center is clearing them out. The "list" price is $70. They are on eBay for $30. Guitar Center has them for $10 ($9.95). It's small, useful, and cheap. If you have a Guitar Center local, it might be worth it to stop by.

Hey - picked one of these up for 10 something after tax - has a pretty sensitive microphone on it, tunes all the way down to low F and E below the staff, and all the way up. Thanks for the heads up!

Glad to hear it worked out for you. I figure it should have sensitivity down to B to octaves below the staff. However, tubas start to have a radically different overtone structure in the register than a bass would, so it might not be a sensitive in that register. Regardless, I am happy that it work where yo really need it most.
