Ewald #1 (BQ)

Post by jon112780 »

How many editions of this are there? I'm playing one by David Thomas, and I seem to remember I've played a better one a couple years back, but can't remember who edited it...

I will toot my own horn here and would recommend the set I did a few years back. It includes all three Ewald Quintets in one book for $55.00. I went back and found the original scores and edited from there. The set is available from my site, Robert King, Hickey's etc.

The catalog number is BVD 85.

As far as I know, there are at least 5 versions floating around.

The Robert King is actually a 6tet, IIRC. RK played baritone horn, and swiped all the tunes from the tuba part for hisself.

I grew up with the Ensemble Editions version, always seemed to work well enough that there was no need to get another version.
