faculty: Accompanists at YOUR college/university

Fellow Tuba/Euph faculty members:

How does your college/university work accompanists for your faculty recitals?
Do you find your own accompanist? Are you assigned an accompanist?
Do you pay for your accompanist or does the university pay them?
Does your school operate on a 'bartering' system where the accompanist plays
as a courtesy to their fellow faculty with the understanding that the favor could be called for return later down the line?

The University of Delaware (where wife works) has a paid position of faculty accompanist.

My college has you find your own accompanist. The vocal program all use the same person every year, but the music program usually uses one of the vocal majors, as she is a great piano player herself and she is a little less cost than the other one.

I think you are talking in terms of being a student. The OP is talking from the perspective of faculty.

While I am not faculty, seeing as how it is normally expected for faculty to do this (recitals) routinely (especially if not part of a major ensemble), I can't see why the pianist would not be furnished by department/school overhead. I see it like being in a Math/Science field and being asked to produce new work without having the tools of research. Considering that 99% if not more college instructors and professors own the equipment that they mainly use to teach with, I would find it foolish that they couldn't cough up the costs to cover an accompanist for a yearly recital.

Oops, I see that now. I just asked my professor and apparently he uses the same student we do for his recitals, but he doesn't do them often enough for me to have seen one since I started.

We have a full-time staff accompanist at Wayne State, which is a new thing this year.
On my recital last year the piano professor provided my accompaniment.

It's an amazing thing to have a staff accompanist; this semester I'm doing a recital in late April, and I'm already rehearsing with the pianist. I get a half hour every week until the performance date! Now THAT'S a luxury!

I don't think some of you guys are reading the original post. The OP wants to know if it is common practice to have an accompanist provided for faculty recitals gratis.
